What are those oval speakers?

So back in about 1982 I was at Sounds Expensive in Rugby with Nick Pugh and he had a fantastic system in. It was a Beard pre and power amp with Pink Triangle but I can't for the life of me remember the speakers and it's been killing me for 30 odd years. They were massive, i mean huge, at least four feet tall, probably two feet wide and strangely they were elliptical if you look down from the top.

Nick played the final cut by Pink Floyd and it was amazing. If anyone can name these speakers from this pathetic description I will for ever be in your debt.

More info needed. Floorstanders I take it from your description.

They were not Quad Electrostatics as these would be wider but these do look like a flattened ellipse from above (bit like a radiator).
