Having given it a week or so to sink in,all I can say is my initial thoughts of this site taking a step or several backwards, has now only increased. It has nothing to do with font sizes or colours (well maybe only 5%) but the main issue is for me,it now just looks so horrible, and is horrible to use.all the scrolling makes me dizzy. I have definitely been using the site less, and can only see this trend continuing. Sure, the old site could well have needed an upgrade, but I think if you introduced the old site now,or in the future....that would be an upgrade. I sort of see the point of tiles and the new format, but I would say you need to find a way of a lot less scrolling, and much more information on the screen. It really is bad! And from a site that is supposed to be about new technology to a point, its not good! This is my current opinion, and I maintain the right to change it at any time :)

The google add at the top is seriously annoying, keep catching it with my finger on the iPad mini and it starts playing. It is also covering up bits on the site that are now hiding behind. How do you get rid of this or is it meant to annoy you...?

Do I have a new thread (posted yesterday evening) hanging in 'limbo' somewhere or awaiting permission or something? (Or would it have just disappeared?)

The system appeared to to accept the new thread, after I saved it, but it never emerged.

Also, is it possible to remove the need for me to do a word verification check when I post?
Thats what kept happening to me, looks to be sorted now though.

Well I'm really struggling to use the new site on my nexus. I'm getting RSI of my thumb with all the scrolling. There's way too much space around everything in the forums, so it all looks a bit base and unappealing. And I have to scroll for ever to see all the posts. The buttons are vast and take up half the screen. Really do they need to be that large? Four next to each other with smaller spacing would work...
The front page just doesn't work. The news story pictures are just too large. And all I'm greeted with is a page of icons. Maybe an m.whathifi is needed, worth the option to go text only. Is this redesign had been done to make things better for tablet and smartphone users, I'm not convinced it's working.
I used to like dipping into the site, bit of news, quick scan of the latest pays in the forums. Just doesn't seem to support that kind of action any more. Hard to work out what the new news is. On my mobile just eats bandwidth downloading the unnecessary pictures. Then the slightly writers options on the forums don't work. Why do you hide the threads you are the last to reply on when in new mode. Of you want that option make it a user profile configurable "Hide threads you are the last to post on from new threads list"
I'm really trying to hang on in her with the site but it's a real PITA at the moment

It was in the pending queue Chebby, I've now published it.

Strange, still working at our end. Which browser are you using?

That's very strange, I've never not had the drop-down pop-up myself... Still not seeing it?

I've not been following this thread in detail so I apologise if this has been posted before. However using IE11 I can't post emoticons, the box opens but nothing happens when I click and I can't close the box. I also can't copy links into a post.

Same here (also IE11). "smiley" works

but "insert smileys" doesn't. I can close the box though. Lucky me.

Don't know why you've got two sets of smileys?

This morning for the first time I have just seem the new forum on a PC that isn't running an ad-blocker. OMG. On a screen running at 1440x900, two thirds of the initial real-estate is ads, what with the banners down the sides and the huge Google video ad at the top (which at least scrolls out of view as you move down the page). It might be coincidental but the 'Active Topics' button refused to do very much until that darn Google ad had played through at least once. Funny isn't it on sites full of ads they can somehow always make sure the ads load-up absolutely fine, and if anything's going to bottle-neck at all, it's the actual content that you want to read, never the ads. Sorry folks, I now see what all the whining has been about. If this is how I routinely experienced the forum, I'm not sure I'd bother.
