I'm going to see this at the IMAX tonight or tomorrow. Has anyone seen it yet? If the visual effects in 300 are anything to go by I reckon I'll enjoy it even though the reviews haven't been wholly positive.

Wow, what a breathtaking response. Unfortunately my flatmate feels the same way, he's postponed it until tomorrow. I for one can't wait...

I have seen it. Do not bother! It was the worst film I have seen of late and the only satisfaction I got was the Aero chocolate that I ate! Dr Manhattan belongs in a hilarious porn movie...if you see it, you will know why!

Yep, I'm sure he'd feel right at home in a blue movie. I was afraid it would be pants (or no pants as may be the case!)

ha ha! I was really looking forward to it for a very long time, but I am afraid it was really disappointing...but give it a go nonetheless.

I agree. I did the right thing by not hyping for it ( i hyped for The Dark Knight, such a wrong thing to do), went in there with no expectations and saw that the film was put together pretty messily, the scenes didn't come together like they did in the Graphic Novel, it was pretty cluttered. They missed some of the best parts of the Novel out and as we know the cast wasn't the best (apart from Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerman and Patrick Wilson) and quite a few of the scenes were mashed up and changed from the Novel illustrations, read the Novel again, watch the film and you'll see what i mean. I'll buy the Motion Comic, possibly Tales Of The Black Freighter and i'll rent the film and i'll see how it is second time round. This film definitely needed to be an hour longer, at least, it was crammed in too much. Zack Synder should've abandoned the film as it would've been far better if it was made in the late eighties (after it was released on Novel terms) with one of those old style cameras (eg films like The Shining, Cape Fear, Taxi Driver etc).

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? Thanks, Rorschach.

Watched it down at Lakeside last night.

Now, I'm a Watchmen virgin, never having heard of it before. So I'm only able to give my opinion of the film itself.

I was a bit confused by it TBH. I don't think it had enough back story of individual characters to make full sense to someone like me. The chopping and changing between characters left big portions of the film quite confusing. I mean, I didn't know who this glowing blue guy (without a stitch of clothing on, doesn't he like boxer shorts?) was, until an hour or so into the film.

It looked good, the scenes with Rorschach were the best. It was a lot bloodier than I expected too. Some scenes seemed a bit tacked on, like Dan and what's-her-name (Malin) getting jiggy in 'Archie' to 'Hallelujah'........Bizarre......

I too would probably like to watch it again, now I have a bit of an idea who people are.

You did a very wrong thing by not even considering to read the Graphic Novel first, buy the Novel before you watch it again.

Do you mean that £50 novel? Pretty pricey for a cinema ticket?

Or you could get the paperback for £8.09 from Amazon!

I've not read the novel, and the film doesn't particularly appeal to me - except it makes me want to read the book!

LOL!

It's not that I didn't even consider reading the graphic novel . It's just that I didn't know anything about it at all. I mean nothing. I didn't know if there was (or wasn't) a graphic novel, a comic, an annual, or anything. I saw the trailer. I thought it looked enjoyable. End of decision making process.

I watched (and enjoyed) the Spiderman movies and the Batman fims without reading the comics. I enjoyed 300 without reading the G.N. I don't think it's fair to blame a film viewer for not liking the film as much because he/she didn't do their homework beforehand.

How many Bond fans have read the Bond books? I haven't (and it's not because I don't enjoy reading).

Like I said, I didn't hate it, I quite enjoyed it. But purely on a film basis, a little more depth into the characters would have been nice.
