CD's

Since we're talking about CDs, I accidentally bought a copy of one of Emil Gilel's Beethoven Piano Sonatas recordings on CD that I already have. I'm trying to collect all of his Deutsche Grammophon Beethoven Piano Sonata recordings on CD.
The seller very obligingly allowed me to cancel immediately and he refunded me.
He told me that he has a number of that pianist's DG Beethoven Piano Sonatas on LP that he'll be listing.
So, if there's any LP lovers here that would like Emil Gilels etc as mentioned there will be this guy's collection being listed now or soon.

I bought my favourite jazz albums, probably about 30 to 35 for around £60 altogether, new. Well pleased and the 6000cdt sounds amazing. I have most of those albums on vinyl too and it must have cost me well over £600 (some used). CD is where value is found in hard copies.

Yes it's not quite the same but when it is all done and dusted and the CD is in the thing, it's just as enjoyable.

I've never turned away from CDs, and I still have a substantial collection now. Having said that, I have moved the less played ones into plastic sleeves with all the artwork to save space. My classical, jazz and folk collections remain fully intact in their original cases/boxes, and will remain so.

I stream a lot now, and I find Qobuz to sound as good as CD. I use it to try new pop/rock/folk albums of interest, and I have to enjoy a release more than once before I'll buy the CD, even if it's an artist I love.

For classical and jazz music I use the Presto Music streaming service (I work there) to keep on top of new releases, and to try new recordings of interest out before I buy them on CD.

I don't think any one format has a sonic edge if the system is right, so I'm agnostic to that as long as I get to enjoy the music.

Absolutely, ultimately music needs to be enjoyed - format is largely unimportant

What kind of CD player are you using now?

Currently playing around between the Audiolab Omnia all-in-one and Yamaha CD-S303/RN-600A. At this point, the Yamaha kit is in the lead.
