i'm wanting a piece of furniture to house all my kit.

i've got a 50" plasma, amp, power amp, dvd, (arcam) sky box, rega cd player, so need plenty of shelf space.

the walls are not suitable for mounting the plasma, fo need something for it to stand on.

wanting something wooden, not metal,

any ideas, etc, please post links, or reviews... not wanting to blow more than 300 quid ish!

You could try "Chunky Monkey" and get something bespoke made up.

Hey, stealing my recommendation! Worth also getting a quote from Stump Furniture in Leeds.

Just highlighting the fact that you do occasionally come up with a good suggestion. 😛

I have an old (100 year old?) oak sideboard which I bought for £4 at an auction many years ago. I strengthened it underneath with a steel L girder and bored out lots of ventilation holes. My 50 inch TV sits on top and all my equipment is within, and I can shut the doors on it when not using it. So it is a nice piece of oak furniture which matches my floor standers, it is solid as a rock, and hides the mess of HiFi stuff.

Have a look in second hand furniture stores – you might find something that you can adapt for the purpose.

a sideboard, or similar piece of furniture is also an option.. the walls in this house are all stud wall and lots of insulation. its basically a timber frame and brick and timber cased.
