I'm looking for a neutral and transparent power amp for my system.

Having already tested the Lyngdorf SDA 2175, I found it to be very, very nice but also rather cold-sounding.

Would a Cyrus 8 Power be a good match for my system instead?

How does it sound?

Any other suggestions?

Are you looking for a pre or power, your title and main content contradict one another?

I'm assuming you want a power amp.

Well I'm delighted with my Quad 909, you could have a look at the new Elite range.

Argh, sorry! My mistake 🙂

It's a power amp I'm looking for.

Thanks.

Edit:

Edited the initial post now.

Your speakers are greatful for a bit of grunt aren't they? Not that I've heard them (so I can't recommend from personal experince) but I'd be very tempted to have a look the Emotiva power amps. Many people turn their nose up at them but from the those that have actually heard them the never seem to fail to impress.

Those speakers really need some power 🙂

Quad 909 - how would you describe its sound?

It's within budget for me.

Emotiva...I'll check it out, thanks.

How about a pair of PMC DS-001 class D monoblocks .

http://hifilounge.co.uk/pmc-ds-001-amplifier

They are absolutely neutral and transparent and very powerful . They are not the prettiest amps to look at but being so small they can be hidden away out of site if you wish and should match your Dynaudio's very well 🙂

You could try one of the Bel Canto range.

How do they sound, if you should describe them?

They are Class D with a clean, detailed but musical sound....slightly less forward than Cyrus. If you do a search on the web you will get lots of info......most of it good.

You must listen for yourself, as the description of sound itself, is subjective.

These are out of my budget range, though.

I should have specified it above.

My budget is £1.100 - £1.300

Not really:

Bel Canto S125..........£1099

Bel Canto Ref 150S....£1499 (might get it for a little less or ex-dem)

Ok, thanks 🙂

I do plan to listen to a few more amps before deciding.

But as subjective as words may be, they are still a starting point for further investigation, I think.

Try and stretch to the 150S.

Sorry I should have stated it more clearly in the post above: I was referring to the suggested PMC mono blocks as being out of my budget range, not the Bel Cantos.

How about getting yourself a two week home loan of a pair of Graham Slee's new Proprius?

I've not heard it yet, but those who have are raving about it.

Actually they are within your budget range at £1299 for a pair 🙂 or a little less if you shop around 😉

CnoEvil: Ok! No problem 🙂

Electro: Argh, apparently I can't read anymore! Thanks! 🙂
