Any one have any opinions on there stuff? They seem to get fantastic reviews. Thinking of getting the pre and the s300 amp. Opinions using similar priced Cyrus as a reference would be advantageous...
Yes, they get fantastic reviews everywhere but can you live with Class D's sound? Personal taste play a big part on this one. If you gonna buy this kinna equipments I would suggest demo Tact/Lyngdorf too as it is cheaper and a touch warmer.
It's good kit, I had the older evo series, clean top end, great bass control, but a recessed midrange, that used Tripath, the latest version use B&O ICE modules, ClassD tends to mayor on speed and transparency.
Hey Thaiman - Would it be feasable for me to keep my existing preamp (pre vs 2) and use the bel canto amplification. This route would save me a lot of money than going down the primare route.
Also Drummerman - you constantly say that multiple cyrus boxes are not the best in their class if you would be kind enough to answer these two questions -
1) At what point do you feel the price of multiple boxes (just amplification) is not value for money - If less than 2000 pounds....
2) Where else would you rather spend your money (less than 2000 pounds)..
I would go for the matching set mate because you wouldn't have to ponder later on "what if I got the matching combo!"
I only heard the S300i with USB port which was very good and I do believe it would be an upgrade from your lovely Cyrus. Never heard their Pre-Power though.

I feel the 8 integrated is fantastic value so is the 8 cdp. It gets better with pre-power/psx's etc but personally I would'nt go beyond the above with a psx to integrated. Just an opinion. You said you're looking for less lean sound if I understud right thats why I suggested the 8 powers whilst you can use your existing pre. I assume you tried this route and did'nt like it.
I'll stick my neck out and say the single best amplifier I've heard at £2000 or thereabouts is phonosophie's classic 1 (in basic form) followed perhaps by Coplands CSA29. They dont sound similar but I like them both and would choose either over an equally priced cyrus system. There are many more, Thaiman may be the person to ask if it goes beyond that price. I have listened extensively to the Supernait too and whilst it is a very good amplifier I personally find it lacking in certain areas important to me though its easy to criticise anything and many would disagree with me on that one.
I am currently using the e.One REF1000 amps with the Bryston BP26DAC preamp. Love the amps. I tried it with the Bel Canto e.One PRe3 preamp, and to be honest liked the Bryston a lot more. I didn't try the Bel Canto e.One Dac3 preamp, and may well of loved it; but I have no regrets going with the REF1000 amps. Gobs of power and very transparent. Nothing seems to rattle them. I also have the Bel Canto universal player as my main source; again very happy with it. I have heard the e.One S300 amps in the store and was impressed with them as well.
Hey Thaiman, Sorry to bother you again mate but i was wandering if you could clear something up for me...
I heard the bel canto mono (m300) yesterday and loved them. I got a deal offered for around 1200 new (400 off retail price), First am i getting a good deal here or you think i can haggle further? Secondly i have been reading all this stuff about bel cantos using bang and olufsens ice power somethings and that these are available in far cheaper systems? Is this true?
Surely bel canto change this to make it better? Or not? I dont want to be ripped off so thought id pick your brains before jumping in. I did like them though!
Bel Canto can be mod further effectively (most user trust Tony at Coherent hifi to mod them), the price is high but (apparantly) well worth it.
About your potential purchase, I guess the only deal I can beat your is to go for Evo2 GenII power amp which is highly regards as a better version of the pair of e.One M300.
RRP for the Evo Geniii was around £2,500 and Midland audio exchange has a 2nd hand one for £1,499.
They are brand new M300 including delivery... so is that good?
that is £200 off each block which make it 25% discount, on brand new goods this is a fair deal. Try to part exchange one item of your old kit "with that price"....see what he will say.

What did you used for pre-amp in demo room?
