hey guys! just got my samsung 50c7000 today which was is great but i have a problem. I can watch blue rays fine but ive tried Cars and toy story which play fine but have no sound? The sound menu plays fine but when it come to the actually film it doesnt play. I tried other films like the dark knight, harry potter and they all play fine. Is this a fault with my player or tv as it worked before on my previous tv

If I remember correctly, the new C series of tvs can decode dts, but i cant confirm this.

Are the films your playing actual blu rays or mkvs ?

What audio track are u playing from the blu-ray, is it dts or dd?

What is the current setup?

So ps3 directly into tv?

Try turning off the anynet, and checking that speaker select is selecting tv speaker, and the volume hasnt been switched down to 0.

Is the ps3 connected via the amp or to the tv directly?

Please note if you playing bd through the ps3 you will not be able to get the dts-hd/ma audio and only get dts/dd.

Assuming the ps3 is connected to the tv directly, try setting the output of the ps3 to bitstream, it will play the hd soundtrack in standard dts/dd, if the tv can decode a dts signal (which i'm fairly sure the new c series can but do check the manual about the audio codecs).

Hope this helps

- the c-series can decode dts.

- I would also try setting BD/DVD Audio Output (HDMI) to LPCM on the ps3. If u select bitstream some bits of the audio may not be played.

- Re-configure the sound on the ps3 and check that 2 channel lpcm is ticked.

If u have changed devices I suspect either the ps3 is confused, or the anynet on tv may have got itself mixed up - specially if u have changed hdmi ports and were using bdwise.

the ps3 is connected to the tv directly as my amp can not process 3D material and when i want to play a film without the surround sound so i dont wake the others at night. As for the sound settings,i have set the ps3 correctly. u

According to the tv specs, it wont handle HD DTS. So youd need to cycle through the sound options on the bluray player till something does work

When you state that the ps3 settings are correct, can you please confirm what these settings are?

it doesnt have to handle dts-hd as dts-hd is backwards compatible, u just get core dts. I can stream Day After Tomorrow with its DTS-HD soundtrack direct on tv with no problems.

Reconfigure the ps3 sound, when I connect my ps3 direct to my 8 Series via HDMI its says

LPCM 2Ch. 44.1kHz

LPCM 2CH. 48kHz

I normally use HDMI to tv for the video (3D) and optical to the amp for sound, though I just tried the HDMI and its fine.

The anynet can get confused and keep trying to use external speaker rather than tv speaker -if u previously connected an amp to the same hdmi port, so turn the anynet off and manually select tv speaker.

But yeah tell us ur ps3 settings, whether its hdmi or optical for sound, and is it ps3 fat or slim, and whats the firmware on your tv (latest is 3003.0)
