morning folks....

i'm going to place my new marantz 1501/1601 on a shelf within my oak tv cabenet....was wondering, even tho there is quite a big space, whether there would be anough ventalation for the amp....should i consider an external fan or such like?

dimensions for amp space is H 19CM D42 W48

cheers

As long as you have about 5 - 7cm clearance above and the amp and good air ciculation then you will be ok. My pioneer sits on the bottom shelf of my AV stand and its 20cm in height, this gives it a clearance of 7cm above it. Is your oak cabinet sealed from the front and back? If it is i would consider getting a hifi rack.

Hope this helps

the cabenet is sealed at the back, with a large hole in the center for cables, tis open at the front.

unfortunatley i cant get a rack, would be great for seperates, offering me a whole lot of choice for the amp,but the Mrs wants me to work with what wev'e got,and to be honest,i dont fancy putting a rack nxt to the sideboard and sofa (only space),abt 6mtrs+ away from the tv,this would mean running cables(hdmi/optical)

but yes, your views are as always helpfull:)

cheers

Hi Graham

Yeah that sounds about right with the mrs lol :) I think you will be fine, as long as its not a sealed cabinet front and back then you are ok. Besides the amp you have runs quite cool compared to most. I would not worry at all, the air can escape fro the front and it will remain cool.

My AV amp is in an oak cabinet with a glass door – for aesthetic and child proofing reasons. There's probably about 5cm clearance and there are numerous holes in the back (I've put it) for cables. Never had a problem.

heres hoping mine will be ok Rodger:)

Robin, love the stacks unit...i might consider getting one for £200,bargin!!! is it cheap and easy to get longer sky HD leads?,as i'd like to put the sky box in the rack, with the kef center speaker sitting in the sky box's place, under the tv.

also...how much do you think it would cost in 6meter+optical/hdmi leads?i'l have amp/tv/sky/ps3
