Has anyone else noticed the distracting and highly irritating high pitched noise the fan makes in the V+ box?? Its even on when its on stand by! Man i wish i could have sky, its miles better!!!!

Mine can be a bit noisy, but I've kind of got used to it now and tune it out... but yes, Sky HD is better. No question.

Agree, the fan on mine isn't bad but has got to the point where I sometimes think of requesting a box swap. Sometimes lifting the box up can cure it.

If yours is annoying you permanently you should think about swapping the box, they'll do it for free if it's faulty.

Only notice it when the tv is off. Then only if im being very quiet which is not often with a 3 yr old and a 20 month old running around! I personally prefer v+ cos then i don't have to have one of them frying pans stuck on the side of my house! 🙂

I don't think it's the fan, I thinks it's the hard drive. I had an annoying low hum through the cabinet so I mounted my V+ on four halves of squash balls (cheap isolators) and it's silent now.

nah this is a higher pitched noise rather like a fan that stays on when its on standby sometimes too. You can hear the hard drive working when its recording and its like a loud pc hard drive, ticking and whirring away.

I'm dreeeeaming of a skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiy plus box

If Virgin is anything like nthell of old then I would stay well clear. The worst company I've ever dealt with, and aside from telewest the only company that I've written a great, long letter to the CEO complaining about the appalling product and even worse service.

Sky, on the other hand I found to be very good on both counts. When the box went down, someone was there to answer the phone and sort it out, there was no hanging on the phone for an hour and a half before they told you there was nothing they could do, and they would send someone round 3 weeks on Tuesday to sort it out.

Ntl and Telewest joined to form Virgin so it sounds like your worst company ever!

Was with NTL before virgin took over and have never had any problems with them, Service has been great when ever i have called them and no issues with any of the boxes. But i have heard horror stories about SKY. Guess its just luck of the draw or something.

Im not even going to go into the fun and games we had with the installation..................

The other noight there was a comedian on tv joking about his mate banging on about the povertyy in this world........ the punch line was of course "yeah well they havent had to deal with an NTL subscription!" How i laughed and then cried.

Just swapped over from Sky to Virgin and couldn't be happier, some minor quirks like the remote is god-awful but overall well-pleased.

My old SkyHD box made a constant noise sounding like the hard-drive always hunting or something the new V+ box is quiet as a mouse!

Now have 2 spare Sky boxes a Sky+ and a SkyHD any ideas?
