Dont know where to start but my current system consists of;

2 x Musical Fidelity XA50 power amps

Musical Fidelty X PRE pre amp

Mission 731i speakers

Yamaha DSP surround processor

Cambridge Audio CD player

Not sure the best place to start the upgrade, been toying with getting the Marantz CD6002 and Dali Lektor speakers but not sure wether to spend a bit more on a decent surround amp than buying another hifi amp and a surround one?

I know the quality wont be as good but are newer surround amps better at music than my current one?

All help would be appreciated, thanks people.

See what you mean, having a Musical Fidelity based system it should sound very nice!

I would start with a good AV speaker package.
I went for the Monitor Audio RS8's, not only do they sound really good the veneered finish, the by polar rears and sub fit the room lovely. (so my wife says!)
Would start auditioning, buy, get them home and settle in with them before the next step. You will struggle to find anything out of the box to equal your MF amplification IMHO.

my listening room isnt huge though only about 4m x 5m so thought the dali lektors would be good there and going for some flush mounted ceiling speakers as rears.

i live in the middle of nowhere so auditioning is a pain in the you know what.

the marantz suit the dalis and my amps?

I would agree with Trevor and upgrade the speakers. I too love the MA silver range but I use the smaller RS1's for the front. They may suit your room better.
