Afternoon all

I have noticed today that running virgin tv through my onk 905 (not sure about dvd as not tested it yet) that the picture is unstable, it kind of twitches vertically. Anyone else found this and is this part of the same problem from the other thread re onks problems (picture stability, black levels and firmware updates etc).

Cheers

I've not noticed it. I've got my V+ output set to 720 and my Onk 905 to 1080p. My V+ is connected to the 905 using a Supra HDMI lead, perhaps check your connections are tight? I've got the most recent firmware on my 905.

My 875 does this, but I've only noticed it when playing Guitar Hero 3 on my Wii.

When it went to Genserve to have the display repaired, they upgraded the firmware to 1.08, but it still does it.

Ideally I think the signal would be better as standard defintition from the V+ to the Onk which could then upscale the original image (unless BBC HD of course). But unfortunately when you connect via HDMI you only get the choice of 720p or 1080i. I opted for the 720p, all 720p pictures I've seen beat 1080i by a long way. The question I then asked myself and others, is should you upscale an image twice, i.e. SD from ITV upscaled to 720p by V+ and then the Onk upscales it again to 1080p. I think it's marginally better passed through the Onk as a 720p with no further upscaling from the 905. Trouble is I can't be bothered to change the settings with every source i watch through my Onk, so that stays set at 1080p!

So, V+ = 720 and Onk 905 = 1080p
