though I might need to sell my subwoofer (which gets no use) to justify that kind of expense.

 IMO a subwoofer is the most important aspect of a home cinema system. Watch your favourite film with & without a sub. Which sub have you got?

I have an Acoustic Energy Radiance sub (silly low price for B stock a few years back).

Discussion of the sub is largely redundant, as I Iive in a flat with neighbours below. If I had a BK Monolith it would still see no action.

I own a house, but I haven't lived there for six years and have tenants. One day I'll sell up and buy another property, but until then, I'm not in the market for a subwoofer.

The way I see it, I'm better off with a near-reference TV that I love than a redundant sub and a TV I'm underwhelmed by. Selling the sub would free up some floor space, too.

just spoke to JL. They have no idea when the VT well be coming in if any at all. Also, they had no info on the gt60.... Im now not sure what to do. I was hoping to at least move to the VT, cant stand the thought of going back to the issues of the GT50. ARGH.

Hang in there! I'll be shocked if JL doesn't stock Panasonic plasmas this year and an ST60 is a decent solution.

At the very least they'll have to leave your options open until they can confirm which TVs they're stocking.

i was told yesterday by representative that i have as long as i want. I told then i did not want to be pushed in to something that would be second choice. That's something. Just want to sort it as soon as.. I hate having to wait as it just leaves me with a set that has problems..And i can;t enjoy it like that;

Several of us (myself included) are in the same situation with the same retailer.

Just be thankful that you bought from a retailer that looks after its customers. Things could be much worse.

The situation is a pain, but your TV woes should come to an end in the next month or so.

Cancelled the GT50 exchange and JL have kindly said I can keep in touch over the next few weeks to see when they may get the GT60 and then exchange.....they suggested calling Panasonic to check if/when they may supply JL......

strapped: didn't ask about the STas figured that will be covered when I ask Panasonic.....

John Lewis really is the best place to buy a TV.

Review here (of the 64-inch version).

His summary of the review is:

"If you’re looking for some of the best 2D and especially 3D pictures around, then you should definitely check out the PS64F8500."

Given the number of customer returns, have JL decided to not stock certain models? :? Hopefully not!

you could hardly blame them if they have - reckon their staff have probably nicknamed the GT50 "The Boomerang"..

I can think of some other terms to describe the GT50, but "The Boomerang" seems appropriate from a retailer perspective.

All TVs have problems. Panasonic's issues are magnified on forums such as this, as we focus so intently on their plasma TVs. I wonder how many Sony 853s were returned due to DSE, or Samsung plasmas due to brightness pops, floating blacks and 3D frame skipping?

I'm sure JL will stock Panasonic plasmas this year; we just don't know which ones and when.

Thanks for the thorough review team (and for getting it online quickly)!

A couple of things I'd really like to know please.

First, did you spot any issues with screen uniformity, in particular vertical stripes of lighter or darker colour gradation? I'd imagine several forum members are keen to hear about this. If you still have the TV, football or grey slides clearly reveal this problem on many 50 series Panasonics. I'd imagine these would be similarly revealing tests on this year's models.

Second, the dual tuner feature is great, but can you confirm whether timer recording is possible via the EPG? PVR functionality is less effective if you have to stay at home and record manually.

Much appreciated.

Just be told by someone at JL stratford branch that they WON'T be stocking the GT60...Only VT. That's killed my options of as a replacement for my faulty 50GT50. I can't even exchsnge for the VT 2012 because they no longer stock those. Now what do i do? What are my options?

Is a refund an option?

Will JL stock the ST60?

That's all that springs to mind at the moment, though if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Mildly frustrated myself, as I was considering a GT60 (though my heart's been set on a VT65 for the last week).

A bad decision if ever I heard one, but possibly linked to the amount of hassle they've had with the GT50.

Presumably they're not only stocking the 55".

Richer Sounds only has the 55" listed for sale at present too. I'll call JL shortly, as they advised they'd be able to update me today.
