Hi my amp can run 2 subs what would be the advantage/disadvantage in using 2 identical subs over 1 ? Any got any views/experiences ? cheers Edit how much do you think my sub would be worth ?
two subs if located and set up properly can give you more even bass response around the room. you can get areas of high and low bass arond the room with one sub and less of that with two or more subs.
If your sweet spot/listening position is not effected by standing wave such as peak/dip, then 2 sub's are surely better than 1 , however if you happened to be seated just right in the middle of a peak/dip , then it will make things even worse.
Ah thats good to know thanks very much for your replies.
I expect you're right David but i dont want to spend alot, i'm only going down this road as i can hopefully get one fairy cheap.
I may be able to get my hands on another AE EVO sub obviously 2nd hand any ideas what i should offer for it ?
I use two ( q-acoustics ) for an even bass response throughout the room ( 4m x 6m ). Positioning can be tricky as you can end up making a bad situation worse , they can cancel each other out. Adjusting phase can help. I have one positioned at the front betwreen the main stereo pair and another about 2/3 way down the room against a wall - "null " spots have been all but eliminated.
They are both connected to the amp using a Y splitter on the subwoofer pre-out.
