trying to set tv up using both digital video essentials dvd and thx dvd but struggling with contrast and sharpness settings.have always been told that contrast on standard setup is far to bright but even with contrast on max setting can clearly see seperate white boxes on setup dvds.on sharpness setup setting is nearly set to minimum when i think its correct on setup dvd is this normal ? also other settings on tv that unsure of are backlight settings ,noise reduction and all enhancment type settings.tv is sony 40x3000. thanks

Hmm, there shouldn't be any right or wrong on this really but are you sure you're looking for the right thing e.g. as i remember, you needed to find the setting where you could only just see the two white boxes (i.e. the slightest difference between the two), rather than being able to clearly see them...
on the thx setup it says to turn contrast up til your screen is all white then turn down til you can see seperate boxes.but even with contrast on max can still see seperate boxes.any 1 else with sony 40x3000 got any advice on best settings ? thanks
