Current TV is 37 Panasonic (2 years old) and looking to upgrade for something bigger to watch footies.

I might have a chance to get a Pioneer Kuro LX5090 for about £1800ish. The big question is How much better when compare to the Panasonic 50PZ81 which come in at £800 less?? (credit crunch and all that so value for money is more important than ever)

I don't watch Blu-Ray but have a Sky HD (therefore no need for freesat) and watching position is only 4 metre away from screen!

Is there any other TV I should consider? Any advise would be greatly appriciated as I am a strictly 2 channels guy and know very little about AV stuff.

Hi Thai,

Going with the reviews on here, I'd guess the Pioneer is streets ahead of the Panasonic. Whatever you decide make sure you get a decent demo of both sets and use your own DVD's for comparison. Watch both on standard def TV as well as hi-def and change viewing settings until you are comfortable with them.

I have not seen both side by side but when I bought my TV just over a year ago, the then Pioneer model was a better picture than the Panasonic I bought but the price difference was too much for me to justify.

I would say - if you can afford it, Pioneer. If you're struggling, the Panasonic is a great alternative.

Cheers,

I just come back from demo and my goodness, the Pioneer is a class above! Panasonic is very good too but once you seen the picture on Kuros, there is no turning back.....it will be here on tuesday and yes, I rather struggle!
