posted earlier today i am looking for someone who has this tv and can maybe help me at the moment i have used the pixar bluray disc UP to try to calibrate my tv and have ended up with the contrast on full at 100

my brightness is set at 55

colour is set at 55

sharpness set at 3

the active control is set to the off position as is the contrast+ when using the disc you have to make the bars dissapear by adjusting brightness then contrast and then it asks for GAMMA although on this set i have no setting for this

after adjusting the brightness i set the contrast but the only way i can make the bars dissapear is by setting the contrast all the way up if you have used a disney bluray to calibrate you know what bars i mean

What picture mode (list the options) and colour temp (cool warm etc) are you useing?

Also do you have any "processing" gizmo's on as the general school of thought is to turn these off as they nrmally create more problems than they solve.

colour temp set to normal . picture mode is set to personal (the only way you can adjust from the default settings)

brightness set to 55. colour set to 55. contrast way up at 100 (this is the one that bothers me most )

sharpness set to 3

i have picture processing modes off (contrast+ (active control off)

i am using the new PS3 for my blu ray source (and also have a SONY BDPS300) tried all the modes on this such as standard, brighter room, and theatre, these are the settings for the bluray)

used the disney pixar disc to try and set it up by the way what is gamma as i have no setting listed for this

Hi Gazman,

Love my Philips TVs and actually enjoy the 'tinkering'.

Turn off the back light and light sensor. Setting up BD was easy with my Digital Video Essentials disc (Around £13). Language is a little confusing at first but you soon pick it up.

The settings for BD didnt transfer well to Sky HD so i set it up from there using the TV picture. Black and White image for Contrast ( Getting the Black depth good whilst keeping whites white), and avoiding any edge enhancement. Get the setting so there is no over enhancement of edges. Same for colour, set so there is no colour bleed, same for Sharpness use text and set so that letters do not flair. Contrast on the Philips Tv's i have owned have needed to be high. Have mine set at 99 i think. With brightness and colour there are large steps of change between each no. yet contrast seems not to have that. I don't use any other settings apart from digital natural motion set to minimum. You just don't need all the fancy stuff over processing the picture. Mine is a 14bit panel, so loads of colour varients, contrast and depth. Sets are really easy to make a mess of.

Good Luck
