TV ADVICE PLEASE

Hi Guys,

I need some expert advice on what 40" to buy.

My goal is to get the best all rounder. I love films, games and ever now again the odd sporting event.

I'm willing to spend upto £1500.

I've seen the KDL40x3000 in this price bracket and have heard its a very good choice.

I would also prefer a slim TV.

I'll be using with sky HD and PS3 for gaming and films.

What are the hot TV's at the moment? And how do I decide between Plasma and LCD?

If you specifically want a 40in screen, then Sony, Samsung and Toshiba are your main choices as they make sets in that size. Sony LCDs are usually pretty good, and although we haven't tested the KDL-40X3000, we have tested the 40W3000 which offers excellent detail and is incredibly vibrant.

Other options are the Toshiba 40XF355D (£1150), another excellent 5-star model, or one of the Samsungs such as the LE40A656 (£1300). There's a Supertest of 40-42in LCDs and plasmas coming up in the July issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision, on sale May 29.

If you go up to a 42in screen size, then there are several plasma models to choose from, including the new Panasonic range. That July Supertest will reveal all!
