Turntable beginner Question

Hello

I have just bought my first turntable (Pro-ject Genie 3) it,s working as it should , but i have notes that if i switch the amp. off while the turntable is playing a reccord, than the audio continue to play through the turntable it self , it,s like if the sound is coming from inside the turntable , offcourse i have to stand close enough to the turntable to hear it , i have never own a turntable before so i have no experience what so ever, but is thise a normal behavior or do i have a faulty player?

Yes, that's quite normal.

This sounds like your hearing the record through the cartridge alone.

I've had many a deck over the years and do recalling this but i had to sit quit close for it to be audible.
