Turntable Advice.

Hi,

Had my heart set on a Rega 3-24 with Elys 2 cartridge for a while.

Recently had a demo which included a Project Expression III with 2M cartridge.
The Demo shop didn't stock Rega so couldn't compare the two.

Any opinions on which to go for. Considering the project is £325 all in & Rega is £500.

Hi, I can't comment on the TT, but I have got a 2M blue cartridge which I find excellent...

I have the RPM 5.2 with the Red, which is fantastic. Spot on pitch stability, fabulous dynamics, looks incredibly cool. £375 at the moment from Superfi I think, and great value. Save the money for the amp and speaker upgrade which a turntable deserves

£500 buys an awful lot of used turntable.......... This is not an area of relentless technical change and some fine legacy products come into budget. Failing that, Michell Tecnodecs occasionally pop up and they will grind both aformentioned decks into powder.

Is there a lid on the RPM 5.2??
Does it cover the turntable & the Tonearm ?

No, it that's a requirement that rules it out - they sell one, but it's outrageously expensive so I leave mine uncovered.

I am also in the market for a similarly-positioned turntable. I'm considering the REGA P3-24, Pro-ject Debut III E, Pro-ject
RPM-5 AT95E, Pro-ject
