Messiah:

1. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

2. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

3. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Anything to do with ordinary blokes doing extraordinary things, the masses following a myth and good v evil and yer in there.

Anyway I saw the post title and said I am going to post the trilogy on there and you beat me to it.

It's hard to narrow it down to 3, but here goes, in no particular order:

Donnie Darko

Fight Club

Zodiac

Near misses for Seven, No Country For Old Men, Hot Fuzz, Dark Knight, The Matrix.

I'm fairly sad when it comes to films....so I go for the matrix trilogy. Excellent viewing.

Best film of all time? Predator. "Anytime".

There are some interesting choices on here - Frank, although it didn't make your three, Seven was made in 95.

I would go for:

Amelie
No Country For Old Men
Big Fish

Very close up, Ratatouille, Little Miss Sunshine, Donnie Darko, Pans Labyrinth, Zodiac.

No Country For Old Men was a good film spoiled by its ending.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed Amelie. Ordinarily, I would have dismissed it as a "girl's" film.

Just had a look at a review for the double pack AVP1&2 on Play.com.

Alien vs Predator...for years we'd been waiting for the ultimate showdown, until finally...we didn't get it. Why? Because it was left in the mark-missing hands of Paul W.S Anderson. With a string of cinematic diarrhea to his name (with the possible...that's POSSIBLE...exception of Event Horizon) somebody handed the reins of what could have been a classic of horror/sci-fi to this Gump of a director. I don't really blame his directorial skills; he can pull off some blisteringly cool visual sequences, but i do blame his writing talent. In that he doesn't have any. AvP is a mess. From beginning to end, the script is dire, the plot has more holes than my granddad's string vest, the actors seem to realise that they are deep in the bowels of a turkey, and do their best to help the stuffing along. Visually, it looks good: but so does fast food. AvP has no business being seen. By anyone.
AVP2: Requiem. How fitting that it should be called that. Like a funeral dirge, it drones on and on, giving more of the same, but less than you want. How can movies based on two fantastic franchises, both with gloriously rich backgrounds be ground up in a movie meat-grinder and flushed away like this? If AvP was a turkey, then AvP 2 is it's H5N1 infected offspring. The cinematic world would have been better served if neither of these two steamers had ever been laid.

AVP2 sounds like a classic to me! I particularly like the reference to steamers.

AVP2 is brilliant. I agree with some of the comments about acting and dialogue for the first film, the second is better that way. I really hope that there will be a third.

AVP2 mixes a number of classic film themes; your typical American small town jocks vs geeks, good vs evil, survival against the odds and then gives it a twist. The Aliens films had the greatest female film leading character with Ripley. That continued into AVP, but in AVP2 the expected lead character is quite quickly killed off. Nothing is defined, the geek character is not that geeky, the jocks not that tough. Is the Predator good vs the Aliens evil? Is that man just hunting animals for sport, or defending himself against a deadly attack? Eat humble pie maxflynn!

Have to admit to a soft spot for AVP. Fully admit it is a terrible film, but when its late at night and I'm a bit drunk I find it perfect viewing. I just find AVP2 poor though regardless of how much I've had to drink

alien , and aliens , would be in my top ten of all time , predator and predator 2 were good , but not as good imho , avp was a good crack , quite watchable , but thats all , avp2 used every silly cliche , had no suspense , it just didnt work on any level ...

I want AVP3 to be set far into the future and in space. The Predators have created an alien farm on a huge spaceship where humans are bred purely to allow the aliens to breed. However, umknown to the Predators one of humans is actually a remade Bishop from Aliens. Bishop works with the humans to escape from the alien farm and flee to a nearby planet. There follows a massive pursuit where the Predators use the aliens like dogs to go after the humans. But the Predators are unable to handle the aliens and they turn on them.

Meanwhile the humans have found that the planet was originally mined by humans many thousands of years ago and then abandoned. They are able to get some of the heavy machinery to work, including the loaders most memorably used by Ripley to wrestle with the alien mother in Aliens. So now we have a three way battle to take over the planet. I wont spoil the ending by telling you who wins. There will also be loads of explosions and gratuitous nudity from the human females. I expect it to be a huge box office success and to get loads of Oscars.
