What would you say are your best for film, picture quality and sound quality as a whole package? I'm interested to know as there are, it seems, a few turkeys out there to avoid and some real gems that are must haves/reference quality titles.

Mine are, in no particular order:

No country for Old Men - great overall package, top quality video.

Iron Man - enjoyable hero blockbuster, with good overall package.

Cloverfield - good film, ok visual, amazing sound.

(Own There will be Blood, among others - looks great, odd film, wierd ending! - NOT top 3 material).

About to add to collection, Dark Knight, Wall-E, Blade Runner.

Really loving the Blu Ray experience though!!!

Still a bit too pricey though!

Interested in your thoughts!

Out of my collection :

Picture Quality - DARK CITY, stunning picture quality and deep blacks. The soundtrack is good too!

Sound Quality - 3:10 TO YUMA, cracking 7.1 soundtrack. I have an Onkyo905 with 3005SE 7.1 setup and it sounds fantastic.

Entertainment - A close call between Batman Begins and Almost Famous.

Biggest Turkey (in terms of picture/sound) - Bram Stoker's DRACULA with T2 a close second.

Top three for me so far:

Iron Man (picture)

Blade Runner (great soundtrack, although it's Dolby TrueHD, not PCM 5.1 as it says on the box)

3:10 TO YUMA (sound)

From what I've seen so far.

1. Hairspray - brilliant film and superb sound and picture.
2. Ratatouille - great film and the picture is sublime - audio top drawer.
3. Pan's Labyrinth - Wow!!

I'm going to watch Zodiac tonight - fantastic film and it's supposed to be one of the best pictures yet - although sound is just DD.

Hate to say it but my wife bought Mama Mia and is a visual and music treat for your TV (if you like Abba) and The Forbidden Kingdom (Jet Li, Jacki Chan) - very entertaining from recent releases.

Troy Director's Cut - All Rounder
Iron Man - Picture Quality
And I cannot have a sound quality one as I don't have anything that decodes HD sound.
