Just a quick question,is it OK to trim excess speaker wire strands.
I'm wiring up five b+w m1 sub-sat speakers and my cable is a bit too thick,so im wondering if it OK to trim down the excess to make the speaker cable fit in to the terminals on the speaker terminals
Thanks in advance.

are you trying to get the speaker cable into, if its spring terminals then something like this may solve your problem:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisual-Easy-Speaker-Pins-Pack/dp/B00A3A1MN6/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1469723825&sr=8-7&keywords=speaker+cable+speaker+connectors

hope this helps.

Use the pins in the linker above.

Loosing one or two strands in a 79 or more strand cable won't hurt, but loosing 10, 20 or more is going to set up a sudden change in cable impedance which will probably cause all sorts of problems.

Or just buy thinner cable ...

I presume you're talking about the sort of speaker connections where you have to push down on a tab then push in the wires BTW.

Don't think there's room for those pins in the base of these speakers, which have their terminals in the stand/bracket. The best solution seems to be the 'buy thinner cable' one.
