Tizz vinyl

It's been age since I stuck on a record to listen to. Just to let you know it was a disappointment, the sound had way to much treble, with tizzy overtones and was way thinner sounding than the cd version of the same album which was Portisheads Dummy. The cd has deep bass and a very full sound.

Could this be due to my turntable (gear listed below), or is the pre amp just poor for vinyl. Maybe a new tone arm or cartridge may remedy the vinyl issues.

Any thoughts?

Also worth checking that the signal from your cartridge is in phase as it comes out of your speakers.

It's easy to get the cartridge connections on one channel crossed over and therefore out of phase.

Plus that you are running it through a fully working phono amplification section that is applying the right equalisation and is the right sort of load for your cartridge?
