My sister bought a used 10 plate 1.5 Swift last year. One owner, FSH, under 30K miles on the clock. Cracking little car, handles really well, and I think they use Toyota engines, hers definitely is.

As long as it's a Japanese engine, I'd be happy for any power plant.

I'd suggest for reliability you want simplicity - am I right in thinking the Swift is naturally-aspirated? No turbo to go wrong, lower levels of stress on components etc. Not that there are many n/a engines around any more.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they are naturally aspirated.

£564 (parts and labour) to clear dashboard warning lights, 3 of them! Needed a new Adblue pump to do it. We have a good trustworthy garage within easy walking distance and, online, the pump alone is around £640...

Just randomly looking at some of the Chinese made hybrid/EVs, they look amazing. This model retails >$10,500!
Gates UK are franchising BYD, in addition to their traditional Ford line up, is this the sign of things to come?

There's always been fearless young idiots, the Darwin Evolution theory doesn't work for them, I suppose it's the moronic genes that stop them from evolving 🙂

Am I right in thinking F1 2025 cars have two battery engines as well as conventional turbo engine. It looks like they're gradually moving over to full electric.

I tend to agree.

It's also fallacy that EVs are better for the environment, they just have a different set of problems than combustion engines. EVs have a big hit on the National Grid, so we're burning more fossil fuel and, there is no best way to safely dispose the toxic batteries unless you rocket them out into space.

Clean hydrogen fuel or green bio-degradable fuel engine cars is the way forward, unless someone can make cold fusion or plasma energy safe?

Whilst I don't want one, I think you'd be hard pressed to say that the Lotus Evija looks like a Tesla, or the Hyundai iONIQ 5N - the last of which does have virtual gears.

The auto press seems to think that EVs are getting better and becoming more engaging, but I'm hoping my ICE will see me out.
