I have to put a vote in for transmission line speakers. The larger implementations never cease to amaze me when it comes to sheer welly and scale. What a great design principle. Enormous fun, especially when you can make the house windows rattle and things move...

Preferably two of them.[/quote]

Rules out Patsy Kensit then.

Although this may explain Eighth Wonder..............

The Quad 33/303 gets my vote, had one hooked up to a pair of Leak Sandwich (the big ones!) and I would do unspeakable things to have the same again!

Rogers LS6 Speakers. Big boxes of full range fun!

Very nice speakers for the money. I changed the tweeters to some metal dome (from MA 252?) and bi wired them. They are even better now

I'd have to say,and its obviously only a personel choice,as i know nothing about hifi. and after waiting 20 years man and boy.

I now am a proud owner of a pair of kef 104.2 . And i must say they sound exactlly as i remember from hifi shops in the late 80's

Sorry Joe! And Penguin! Only just read this! Wow! Nobody else has heard of the Wharfeys on here really...I love 'em, can't get enough...the E70s are my favourite (only because I can't afford the 90s) they are THE ULTIMATE party speakers! Their ability to thump out music is magical! And that's before you realise the E70s have a 94db efficiency with 4 drivers! Superb 70s beasts! Shame they are all trashed today...I saw some on ebay without any paper on the drivers, the person claimed "it doesn't affect the sound quality"....

That reminds me

For me it has to be the Audiolab 8000a. After over 20 years mine is still going strong (I can't imagine how many owners its had before me). I don't know how far Amp technology has moved on in that time but it blew me away when I bought it. It really opened up the treble and midband and gave vocals a realistic open and breathy quality. And all from such a compact unit. Amazing.
