 I'm now looking for a 2nd hand pair of speakers for my garden Studio/workshop where my old Denon CDP & Amp have been moved too. I've set a budget of £50, age is not important and neither is size. They will be exposed to all manner of dust and hoofed outside when the weather allows.

I was thinking old mission 731's or similar. Any other manufacturers for me to type into google?

JPW Monitor Gold or JPW Mini Monitor or JPW Sonata. (Sealed cabinets so ideal for smaller spaces. Decent bass for their size. £50 should get you an excellent working pair in pretty good nick.)

Just did a search on Gumtree for speakers, UK wide, max price £50. Here's a few out there right now:-

There's a starter for ten for you - and those Bang and Olufsen speakers at the bottom of the listing are exactly that; a tenner! Should give you some ideas to get the ball rolling.

Ha Ha Ha awesome! You guys rock. I wasn't expecting many replies but it seems this 'bargain' hunting is quite fun. I purposely set my budget low to make it more of a challenge. There have been some great suggestions. Cheers :)

I have a pair of these, they were part of my first step in to the seperate hi-fi world, and are still a highly rated speaker.

Thought I would give you all a little update. I've managed to bag a brand new pair of JBL control ones for a price so good it would almost be called stealing :) I'm sat here with them hooked up to my Marantz 603 listening to 'Brothers in Arms' and they sound superb... Really really superb. I decided against getting a bigger box for the workshop as I thought the neighbours might not be too keen on anything to bass heavy :-/

The little JBLs are so clear and have a modest little 'thump' to them, I can only assume they will get better once run in. The plastic case and metal grill should cope quite well with being in a workshop too.

Happy Days  P.S the wife wants to keep them in the house now :-/ Could I get away with sneaking some Neat Iotas into the house? Hmmmm
