Technics SL-3 linear tracker

Amazing what a rummage through the dark recesses of the loft can produce. Found a Technics SL-3 linear tracking turntable, the front end of a midi-system the 'girlfriend' (not sure what the terminology is once you reach a certain age) had in the 80s. Might give it a clean up and see what it sounds like!

Owned an SL-3 for a while and have an SL-6 knocking around albeit unused. I upgraded my SL-6 with an Ortofon OM-10P cartridge (not easy to find being P-mount). Fair enough the build is a bit plasticky, but with the OM-10P, I find the SL-6 holds its own against modern budget turntables such as the Pro-Ject Debut to which I directly compared it. Perhaps I expected too much, or perhaps one needs to spend considerably more, but I admit to feeling disappointed by how little difference the linear tracking made to inner groove distortion and sibilants.
