Tannoy arena vs Kef KHT 3005se

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for surround sound system and am interested in the arena and KEf's 3000.

Both systems have almost same specs and have been taked about with high appreciation. However the arena is an old out of production systems but avaliable @ £400 while the KEF is a modern system avaliable @ £897.But the arena needs 3 wall brackets and 2 floor stands which looks exreemly nice but cost almost as much as the system itself while the KEF only needs 2 floor stands which doesn't look as nice but are much cheaper, this makes the difference in price very small (Calculating that can be as low as £230) .The sub of the arena is a closed box system and the LEf's is not which is not ideal with kids running around. Have listened to the Arena and will be listening to the KEF next week so can't make a comparison yet.

I would like some advice to aid me in the
decision, inform me of any issues I might not be aware regarding the systems
and will consider other systems you would like to suggest. Thanks in

I am planning to integrate the system with a Denon AVR1910, Not bought yet so I'm open to any suggestions you might have regarding the amp. The system will be integrated with mu Samsung LED 46" series 7 and PS3.

Hello,

I've had the Arena for a couple of years and demod it against KEF 3005Se and 5005, and B&W MT-30.

For me the Arena was well ahead of the others. It's combination of clarity, detail, musicality, and tight bass left all the others wanting in different areas. If you're like me you'll notice the loss of detail and problems with music, especially bass, when you demo the 3005SE.

The price of stands for the Arena is something that I think maybe put people off. However, for me, even with stands it was a bargain based on my demo results. Plus, it has to be remembered it was reviewed in WHF iwith stands in a group test including the MT-30, so they were at the same price, (I think the Arena may have been slightly more), and it got 5 stars.

The Arena now comes with the sub from the Arena Highline 300, which is nice and probably has less controversial styling than the Arena sub. I got mine with four satellite wall stands and the centre stand for £1050 from a place in Nottingham who also sell on the internet.

Though I have the Arena with a Marantz amp, I demod it with a Denon, and it sounded very good.
