Systemdek II - platter not moving

The motor turns and the spindle spins inside the speed selector gear (sorry about hte poor terminology). The local shop wants £100 to look at it, can I just put a little glue on to fix it or will I do more damage?

Not quite sure what you are saying but obviously something is slipping before drive pulley / belt.
