studio monitors for home cinema

Hello,

recently got new tv (4k hdr sony ) and need some decent stereo speakers so i was wondering if it would be ok to use active studio monitors - Yamaha HS7 . They are nearfield monitors ( not exactly sure what that means or how it would affect the sound in living room. though. What you guys think ? My budget is around 350 pounds and i would prefferably use tv audio output as i cant afford any audio receiver .

Nearfield speakers means they are designed for you to sit very close to them

If you look at photos of mixing desks quite often you see the engineer is very close to the speakers literally being the other side of the desk / console.

So depending on how close you sit to the tv will determine how suitable that design is for you.

Other than that studio monitors are just powered speakers for what i can tell which is absolutely fine
