Well done for the link, gel. If you can get hold of the actual magazine, this issue also has positive reviews of a Ken Kreisel speaker package and the Amthem MRX 510 receiver, and a review of LG's £5,000 OLED televison, the 55EA980W, which had the summarising comment "Unprecendented HD image quality".

I like the LG I have seen it about 10 times now, and it is very good. I don't think it is that much better than my Panasonic though.

Sorry to hear that, gel! Was the tesco you looked in a big shop? Can you try one of the bigger Sainsburys or WH Smiths or John Menzies? It probably helps to try a bigger shop. This won't help you, but tomorrow I'll be able to look in several shops, will let you know where I can find it.

 Yep, it was a really big Tesco. I will try Smiths up the City when I get chance. Have you just received your copy as a subscriber or has it been out a while?

Hello gel, Sorry I wasn't able to go to many shops yesterday, but I did get to one of the biggest Tescos in Edinburgh, and they did have it. I'll be able to go to more places tomorrow.

Hello again gel, yesterday, Friday, I went to a big Sainsbury, but they did not have it. Also, I noticed that there was no marker on the shelves for it, it didn't seem that they had sold out of it, so maybe Sainsburys don't stock it any more?

Better news though, I went to the main train station in Edinburgh, and in the WH Smiths newsagent there were four copies of the magazine! So maybe big newsagents at big train stations are your best bet, if your local big Tesco don't have it. I won't be able to go to Asda! Good luck, I really hope that you can buy it from a shop, or, failing that, you can order issue 232 from the HCC website.

Looked in my local smiths this afternoon and they didn't have it, will keep an eye out.

Sorry to hear that - it seems you have to go to a BIG Tesco or BIG WH Smiths, maybe at a train station newsagent. I do hope that you get it, that particular issue, number 232, is very well worth getting. But you'll have to be quick - the next issue, 233, arrived on my mat yesterday, and usually the old issue continues to be available in the shops for no more than a week after my subscription copy arrives. Overall issue 233 a bit less appealing to me than 232.

You should ask for a commission from HCC Son_of_SJ!

Heh-heh, I'll try, not to mention tapping Steve Withers for a cut of his calibration income! But seriously bigboss, let me know what you think of what Steve Withers says, once you've had time to read the five pages properly.

Notice also that HCC really likes the Anthem MRX 510, but on the "Calibration discussion" thread ellisdj says that the 710 is the one to go for, better than the 510 for not much more money. I think it was the 710 in any case that you had been considering.

Actually, I'm thinking if I should wait for 2014 receivers with HDMI 2.0, so that at the time of upgrade to 4K, I won't have to upgrade the receiver as well.

The article is on AV forums now:

Well done for this information, big boss! Although you will have noticed that it is slightly different from the article that appeared in the magazine.

By the way, can you remember which thread it was in which you said something like "Son_of_SJ is the acknowledged expert on .....???"
