. . . Records aren't silent between tracks you know they all crackle even if you spend £10000! rp1 = excellent.

Tis true, there is some residual cutter noise and dust build up between tracks, but the better the deck and your vinyl care, 'the darker' these residuals becomes, track gap and 'silent/quiet sections' are also affected by cartridge and stylus type. Not something to be so worried about in the early days, but it is there for consideration as you become more involved with your vinyl?

In the meantime, enjoy . . . CJSF

The Rp1 is a very good starter deck; you'll hear most of what is on the record and, despite its apparent flimsiness, it sounds like a more expensive turntable. Be very, very careful should you be tempted to change cartridge; this is a very delicate operation and should be left to experienced geezers who know what they're doing. The Rega cart supplied is a good match anyway.

The Rp6 will give you much more and cost you much more so it's down to budget and your commitment to vinyl as a source.

If the original postee has not already made up their mind, they will now be completely bewildered as to whether to go for the RP1 or RP6. Just to add to this, I was faced last year with a similar choice and went for the RP3 which has turned out great. Aim too high and you then could get into upgraditis with the rest of your system to do it full justice.
