I'm in the process of updating my hi-fi and this year it's the turn of the speakers.

Looking at Accoustic Q2020i's, Dali Zensor 1 Monitor Audio Bronze at the moment.

It's connecting to a Project Debut iii turntable which is what gets used the most (through an old Pioneer Amp and Sony CD player which will get updated over the next couple of years). Mainly listen to Indie music, Motown, Reggae most modern stuff really (no Classical or Jazz).

One of the main considerations is that it will generally be listened to at a reasonably low level (wife and baby daughter) and so doesn't need to blow the roof off and needs to sound good at the lower end. Other thing is that the lounge is quite long and narrow and will have a speaker at each end either on book shelves or on wall mounted stands.

Anyone have any suggestions on which of these 3 would be best or any other recommendations?

My vote out of that 3 would be the Zensor 1's, very nice speaker in both look and sound.

Monitor Audio is not my cup of tea, maybe you could add some AVI Neutron 5's on the list, they are better then the Zensor 1 imo.

I would not put a speaker at either end, unless you just want background music, they will be too far apart.

As mentioned in another thread, I auditioned the Dali’s and the Wharfdale 121’s and ended up coming home with the Dali’s. It was a close run thing though and I might give the Wharfdales a trial at home. How does the downward firing bass port fare when placed on top of a low storage cabinet or shelf? I can’t use stands as the only place I can put them would result in speakers only a few feet apart, so I need speakers that work well without stands.
