Speakers advice

I have narrowed down my choices, but it will be hard to audition all of these. I am moving from older equipment and need to downsize. I currently have Rogers LS8a floorstanders from the early/mid nineties.

They will be paired with a Quad Artera Solus in a fairly large room…..probably not ideally configured, but I can’t do a lot about that. I prefer a balanced sound….not overly bright. Classical/acoustic/folk/soft rock music. Vocals are important too.

Shortlist….I am not up to date with how different makes sound so do shoot me down or suggest different/better. Budget £1000 ish

Possibly a Quad?
What else/what should I drop?

Don't be unduly influenced by price - the Wharfedales below, came top in a Hi-fi Choice grouptest of speakers up to £1500.
A mate bought a pair in light oak (Richer matched a £450 price he found) and he loves them:

Good suggestions above. I was going to say, if you can get to a Richer Sounds, or any Hifi dealer, depending on where you live, you can not only hear some options, but see them too.

I find it next to impossible to judge how speakers actually look, until I see them. There are so many different finishes and proportions it’s essential to see them, and then check they’ll fit in at home before you decide. Tape measure and phone pictures will help too!

good advice, and I would agree that, for the money, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 will be very difficult to beat even the Q Acoustics but it's very much individual taste and audition, pref at home, is vital.
