Hello,

l would value opinion & experience of using Chord Carnival Silver Screen & Qed XT speaker cable. I'm using DNM precision cable at present, to a pair of ProAc Tablette 2000's. Though fairly good, l feel that the ProAc's will handle something a little more dynamic.

Any other options gratefully excepted.

Chris,

not looking to spend any more than the price of the Chord or QED mentioned; so £6 ish per metre.

In this case don't mind the sound being a little lean, as long as it's not harsh. The ProAcs are in a room that they have to be closer to a wall than l would wish, hence they can be a little bass heavy. I've tried plugging the rear port though this seems to reduce presence of the sound.

I was going to suggest saving for some Chord Odyssey 2 or a deal on the older Rumor but they'll give you more bass! If you're not out to get a bigger range across the board then definitely try the Silverscreen instead.

If the bass is a little heavy handed, the QED may be just the thing.

Can you borrow some for a trial?

ProAc themselves do their own speaker cable. It's difficult to find, but call them, and they'll sell over the phone. I have some for my other system and it's great. However, it's about £11/m I think.

Other cables I have used very successfully with ProAc: Belden 5000UP - only £2-ish/m. I've just tried some Van Damme Blue Series Studio Grade, the 6mm monster. About £4.50/m. Both work really well.

IMHO, you just need the thickest copper you can get that's 99.99999% etc.
