I would be grateful for recommendations for speaker cable for the above. As shown below, I currently have a NAD C521 BEE CD player but will eventually look to replace this with a Cyrus 6SE.I am considering the Chord Odyssey or Rumour.Should I bi-wire, as I have at the moment, or single wire?

Single wiring will be fine, just use cable jumpers, and you needn't spend a fortune on this stuff. Read up a little on resistance and capacitance of wires, which I barely understand, but can appreciate a simple explanation (see Roger Russell's site, or the excellent Blue Jeans Cable from the US) and check out some 18AWG wire - no thinner - and at the most spend about a fiver a metre.

That's my advice, based on the experience that spending more in my time hasn't resulted in an improvement, or more accurately, the cheap wires I'm using perform as well as the more expensive ones. YMMV.

I tested both cables when i was deciding which cable to go for, and the clear winner was the chord odyssey, there is no need to bi-wire just remove the brass jumpers you have on your speakers and replace them with small runs of odyssey cable.

there are plenty of good deals to be had on this cable via e-bay so you don't have to pay top whack for it, and if you buy second hand its most probably already run in for you.

In agreement with the above

The Chord Oddyssey is very good speaker cable and it's the one I'd be going for.

If you do want another option though the QED Revelation speaker cable would be a good choice (I've recently reverted back to it)

I agree with the Odyssey, it's an excellent cable.

Why buy from a third party on ebay? See what your local dealer can do for you, as any dealer will be able to do the 'new' prices advertised on ebay. People are already complaining that dealers don't stock large ranges of headphones anymore - that's because they're being flogged on sites like ebay and trading sections of well now sites for almost no profit, and in most cases, less than a dealer pays for them. Dont let cables go the same way! Support your local dealer!!

Thanks for the advice given so far.

I will continue to support (= buy from) my local dealer (who is 45 miles away!) as I anticipate getting a good price whatever I decide to buy.

I have arranged to borrow some demo speaker cables. I will try Chord Epic, Odyessy 2 and Carnival Silver Screen.

Any comments on this trio?

Thanks.

Only if any of them have copper cores, to also try out an equivalent cheaper version and compare and contrast.

Hi Triggy

I would recommend single wiring your RS6 speakers. A generic speaker cable at a few £/m will be more than good enough for your system.

Thanks

Chord Oddyssey 2 - Very good cable.

Chord Epic - Also superb cable but overkill in your system IMO

Chord Silverscreen - Very good budget cable but will be outdone by the Oddyssey 2

As above though; see if you can find the QED Revelation cable. Also very good and a similar sound to the Oddyssey

Just to throw the cat among the pigeons - try the DNM cable either as a biwire or single wire - they are well priced and sound fab!
