Hi

If you had to buy a sony tv 40-46inches which one would you go for?

The lx range is too expensive and also starts to weigh too much so that is out but anything else is in.

Cheers [Y]

Ones that i have been thinking about are:

1. Sony 46HX803 or 40inch one Sony 40hx803

2. Sony 40hx703 or 46nx703, or 40nx703.

3.. Sony 46ex503.

Any ideas from that lot which one will give me the best 2d performance, i mean prices can vary quite alot as well, does the performance warrant the price increase?

Thanks

i doubt many will have a clue gel, there are so many different sonys its impossible to keep up..

anyway, why just sony? have you ruled out lg, samsung etc? the lg 47le8900 is certainly one id be looking at if i were in the uk..

Well they have been reviewing well and i am kind of running out of choices

I like the samsungs but with the on and off buttons i do not want to be turning my amp on each time. I have done some side by side comparisons between sony and samsung screens and samsungs can be too over vibrant with there colours and thought sony had the edge.

I don't think LG is my cup of tea really. I will have a look at the one you mention though and see what it is like

So any ideas with those sonys?

It is quite expensive though do you think the performance warrants the price? especially with alot of other coming in quite abit cheaper.

well if it was between a 46hx803, a 46nx703 or a 46hx703, and the 3d one was no more than £250-£300 more than the rest, then id get the 3d set to be futureproofed..

or id buy a 46ex503, only about £900, keep it for a year or two then sell it on and go for a high end model..

i wouldnt spend up to £1500 on one of those edge lit sonys that doesnt have 3d, because i dont think the ex model is far behind them with picture quality, and its way cheaper, i think you would be paying for features and style, which is fine if thats what you want to do..

Yep that is what i am thinking now as well
emotion-21.gif

So it is a straight fight between those two, main differences seem to be one is 100hz to 200hz, one is lcd the other is led, one cost alot more to the other one.

I wonder does the price increase warrant it with performance though.

Cheers.

whooaaa.. ive just seen that the 46hx803 is £2100 at richer sounds
emotion-3.gif
, i have to admit i wasnt too sure of the price of these 3d sonys, but thats very very expensive gel, there is no way i would personally pay that, i thought they were around £1700..

and do you still have to buy the glasses and transmitter if you want 3d? if so thats far too much imo gel..

Also i think i should include the sony 40hx803, size is not everything to me.

So there is 3 to choose between.

do you think 2d performance is near the best though, or should i go for the other one, or 40inch one?

Don't worry about the prices here just peformance.

gel, imo the edge lit sonys are very nice, with a lovely sharp picture, but apart from the top of the range ones( that i have not seen myself ) the lx range and the rear led lit hx one, i dont think they are all that much better than the ex range for pure picture quality, im not saying they are not better, just that they are not way better, although they are way pricier..

i thought the nx range was the monolithic designed one? but on richers website its not
emotion-7.gif
, or is that the hx703
emotion-40.gif
, good lord who thought of this range? theres so many of em

Yep the NX is the monolithic big chunky design, we are on the very slimmed down ones here
emotion-21.gif

Yep is a big gap here.

Hi, what hi fi you guys have reviewed the 46ex503 and the 40hx803 if it was purely on 2d performance and which one would you go for? i mean i want it to be good on all sources.

Cheers

Hi gel,im the very proud owner of a sony ksl40hx803.And i must say im over the moon with it,had the tv for about six weeks now(i won it in a work compertition).2d performance is fantastic sd pics from my sky hd box are wonderfull,But put hd on from sky, xbox 360,ps3 or blu ray and it really begins to shine.I must admit it took a while for me to set the picture up,as i had a sony kdl32d3000 and that itself was a stunning tv(100hz,10 bit panel). And using a edge led tv vs a ccfl backlit tv is strange at first.3d performance is very good to using ps3 by getting the four downloaded games, and cloudy with a chance of meatballs is very impressive. So yes all in all im a very happy bunny........right im off to play some more halo reach...lol

gel, the latest 3d panasonics are now available, 42gt20, 42vt20, and the 46in versions, i think that because they are cheaper than the hx803, that the sonys price may drop a bit, perhaps you should wait for a few more weeks? see what happens? the sony 3d sets are overpriced at the moment imo..
