Just the tv Max, i am not interested in 3d but at a later date it might be classed as a benefit for me.

Cheers

ok, i think you made the right choice getting a 46in, after having a 50in for a while, 40in would seem small, and 3d should look great at that size

Hi Max cheers for asking
emotion-21.gif

It is very different from the V20, blu rays look really good, normal pictures are really good too, sound i am finding quite good too.

I am still getting used to it, the size is great, i will post a picture of it and include the speakers and pioneers as well
emotion-21.gif

But i have been very happy with it, i like the design too.

Cheers Mate

I don't know with the 3d part, it is being looked into.

Yep 40inches would have just been two small for me now, i did most of my demoing with the 40inch and they just looked the same but with the 46inch one being bigger.

Not sure if you noticed in what hifis review of the 40" version of your set that they stated that in 3d mode the brightness is ramped up and it reveals patchy backlighting (again) I have seen this in other reviews too mate! Not sure if it effects the 46". You may want to check this out if you have money left for the add ons that is!

You might find it a stunning picture, but youve psysically changed the greyscale. Clearwhite should be off. Live colour should be off, contrast enhance should be off, black level should be off and auto should be 2

All youve done there is screwed about with colours making them seem more 'in your face' than they should. Pictures will 'never' look natural (Which they should)

Each to their own........

I think you made a great decision too Max
emotion-21.gif
i nearly did something similar, but this sony is so light too, it clinched it for me in my system.

I have looked at the 3d part, but i would have to put the 3d blu ray player on top of my pioneer blu ray player and then have my sky hd box on top of that. I know other people have pilled them up but i am not too sure what a professional opinion on that is anyone?

Thanks

I have read the review i am not 100% sure i know what patchy backlighting is though and what too look for does anyone have any advice for me here?

I have demoed the 40inch and 46inch in 3d and can do again quite easily, so if someone can point out to me what it is? that would be great
emotion-21.gif

Also would it affect you much? i mean i can see the 3d aspect definetely works on the 40inch and 46inch.

Thanks

emotion-21.gif
i have seen others do it, just wanted to double check though.

I thought about having it separate from the system, to use it for blu rays without the speakers and for 3d incase i wanted too.

Or i wait and see what pioneer do, but i am guessing it would be really expensive that way when they get there act together.

Cheers

maxflinn:gel, you should consider the panasonic DMP-BDT300 , £269.97 here, it has dual hdmi ports, one for your tv and one for your avr, sorted..

Yep
emotion-21.gif
that certainly would be handy having those dual hdmi points i am amazed others have not done it, that is a good deal, i think if i had a choice i would prefer a pioneer or a sony blur ray player but that is certainly something that would be very handy here.

Cheers mate

Not the way to get 3D - and anyway, synchronising the two discs would be a nightmare.

Hey Gel

As max says better not to go looking for trouble but if you do notice inconsistencies in the screen ie if you see lighter areas on the screen often in the corners(like mine) this is referred to patchy back lighting or bleed I did see a Samsung one of the 55 inch side LED lit LCD and that had terrible blotches in the picture one huge patch in the middle of the screen but that was with the light all the way up as they always are in stores. The way i read it from the reviews from the hx803 is that in 3d mode the back light is ramped up so any inconsistencies are made more obvious!!!
