Hi all,

My first post on WhatHifi forums [:D] so a big hearty hello to everyone.

I'm in the first stages of constructing a home cinema setup, and I'm wondering what the difference is between the Sony STR-DAxxxxxx, STR-DHxxx and STR-DNxxxxxx products. I've been looking at the STR-DA2400ES as a good entry level AV receiver, but want to check this hasn't been superceeded by another Sony product, or that there isn't another one that would better suit my needs.

Many thanks

The current STR-DA models are all part of Sony's ES (Elevated Standard) range, which has long been the company's purist range, having a line of descent from the very expensive Esprit models of the past.

The DH models are the more 'mainstream' receivers, aimed at the mass-market, although of late some very extensive tuning work has been done in the development of these models.

The DN models merely indicate they have network audio capability (ie streaming/internet radio), the 'N' being for 'network'.
