Purely in terms of audio and picture performance what order would you place these three machines in?

I would put it in this order:

1. Sony S760

2. Pioneer LX52 for picture and the Denon 2500bt for sound.

I think you may find that the denon trumps all on all fronts, apart from being a very slow machine and only profile 1.

Go for the Denon, loading times are Ok, picture & sound awesome, DVD upscaling is also awesome, and as they are a old models they can be bought at great price now.
