Hi all,

I am new, desperate and very annoyed. I had mine KDL46hx903 on order for two months. yesterday the area manager for sony called me and told me I will not be getting one as there are 14 orders placed in the area and they will be only getting 7 - and tht is it - no more ever. sony UK say thay will not be fulfilling any more orders for this model.

Has nay of you heard the same? what is going on? if you have a bestselling product flying of the shelves don't you just make more of it???? I have been told I can get the 52" model if I pay extra £650. but i do not want 52"...any ideas or opinions????

That's certainly not the understanding the people from Sony gave use during the last live forum session. They said supplies were short, but more were incoming.

However, products such as this aren't made continuously, like cars for example. The factories will make a batch of them based on orders from the various national sales companies, and responding to an upswing in demand, assuming the sales companies have underestimated, is a matter of waiting for a time when (and if) more production can be squeezed in.

Whereas we had that Eric Kingdon in the office last week, and when asked by 'Pete':

"Can you comment on the availability of the 46HX903? There were not many available in recent times and I would like to see one in action before I buy!"

he said:

"Hello Pete, we are doing our best with the HX903, to be honest even we are surprised at the success of this model. we did bring stock in as promised but the demand is very high. More will follow so please be patient. thanks for your support!"

And your source for this info?

Personally i'll take the word of Sony that more are on their way.

And I'd expect 2011 models to be announced at CES in January, with models available from March- though typically the higher-end ranges don't hit shops until the summer.

You forget, Clare: Sosages is not in the trade, but he's the person upon whose opinion those in the trade depend.

:) yes i too expect the higher end models to be a little later than March going by past experience.
It will be interesting to see how well the 2nd Gen of 3D models fix the issues of the current models.

Im afraid that the hx903 range has indeed been discountinued,Sony are fulfilling pre orders but there is no more left to sell after then.Same for the bdps770 blu-ray player has also finished.Shame as we were selling load's of them....but just wait till you get to see the new range next year, from march 2011.

You can say what you like about SOSAGES Andrew, but it looks like he caught you at WHFS&V on the hop this time!

Perhaps you should give him a job?

Hi,

As you say pre-orders will be met...however. Mine has been paid for..almost 2 months ago, my delivery date for the set (to be installed at home) was this Saturday the 18th, as confirmed by the store manager...the area manger however decided on Tuesday none of the orders form this store will be fulfilled. so there.

customer service? customer care or robbery???? strategic planning of sony should be of no interest to an end user...unless they do this kind of ....i can think of few words to describe this, however as a lady will not use them

Dear god no... I wouldn't count your chickens, it wouldn't be the first time Sony Centres have been given duff information like this.

cliffster:So much for Eric 'Technical marketing manager' Kingdom then!

Yes, I always believe the word of someone who works in an unspecified Sony Centre - which is, after all, just a franchise - over Sony's European Technical Marketing Manager and Senior Manager, Technology Marketing, responsible for TVs.

jcshutts:
why has SOSAGES only got 65 posts? I thought he had been around for ages???

Probably the counter is of "int" type, and will roll over to zero at 65535 messages ...... so that would be 65535 + 65 posts

I'm with Clare and Andrew...and also Eric at Sony. He also answered my question about the 52HX903.

I've spoken to loads of dealers this week and loads of them have 46HX903 in stock. If you want one I don't really think its an issue.
