Good afternoon all.

My mother in law is looking for a small TV with Freeview HD built in.

The best one that we have seen is the Sony KDL-24EX320, although there seems to be conflicting advertising on the internet whether or not it has Freeview HD built in or not and the Sony website is pretty scarce with information.

Has anyone got this TV and can confirm that it has a Freeview HD tuner integrated?

Many thanks.

From the info I've been compiling the answer is no. The EX320 comes in 22, 24 and 26" and no larger and is HD ready not 1080p anyway with standard Freeview channels (ie DBD-T not DVD T2).

The only Freeview HD Sony (of the current / new ranges) less than 32" would appear to be the 22" KDL22CX32D but since that is also HD ready display (not full 1080p) it's only a half way HD option. It does have an inbuilt DVD player included which might be good for M-i-Ls but no Wifi capability and no internet TV.

Having said that, the EX32s (unlike the CX32D) have i-player, lovefilm, simple browser and are skype ready which makes the EX32 range very attractive for additional rooms/bedrooms. They also have better backlighting for improved contrast (Edge LED rather than CCFL) but are still only 50Hz (no motionflow). I'm thinking of buying a couple myself.

I've seen a 24EX320 for £315 online.

I had recently came across the same conflicting information about Freeview HD on these models. It seemed to stem from the Sony website which stated they did have Freeview HD. This has now been corrected and they DO NOT.

I purchased KDL-22EX320 and so liked it I then bought a KDL-24EX320 as well !

The resolution of the 22" and the 26" is 1366*768 and the 24" is 1920*1080.

A firmware update today has added the widgets for Skype, Facebook and Twitter. You need an optional expensive camera for Skype though.

Very impressed by the builtin WIFI and general ease of use. I can stream M4V files from my NAS easily. Looks very nice as well.

The sound could be stronger and still need to tweak the colours a bit, but I am a very happy customer. I was also able to pick up th 24' from Amazon for £285 but the price has since risen again. I've seen it dip down a couple of times but the stock goes very quickly at that price.

Hi

I bought the 24EX320. I thought I was getting Freeview HD as Sony's website and the display ticket in the Sony Centre said so. It took a frustrating evening re-tuning, changing antenna connections and wasting my time to confirm it is only SD. I am fairly cross. The TV is otherwise excellent and I would rather not send it back, but I now have a £320 1080p telly that does not receive HD. A call to the local Sony centre confirmed they had messed up but all they could do was give me a nice expensive 0844 number to call.

It can play Full HD BluRay, internet TV (OK, iPlayer is not 1080p) or HD via DLNA across my network, so why not Freeview HD? There would be zero extra cost. I did read somewhere that they had been planning to include Freeview HD but did not, which made me wonder if it is just a firmware limitation. However, calls and emails to Sony have got me nowhere with that.

Now I have the constant irritation of watching standard def blocky TV on a fabulous display. And yes, there is a big difference on this TV between watching standard and HD, including between DVD and BluRay, especially if you are less than 2 metres away.

I have recently bought the Sony KDL 24EX320 but have been struggling to get the freeview tuned in.

THe tv is in my kitchen and has picked up BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 & sky but I can't seem to turn in freeview.

Did anyone else have problems tuning in the freeview?

Did you just select the analogue tuner and then auto scan?

Cheers
