703 is lead edge.less power consumption.but less colour brightness.and some(a lot)of fading when watching from the sides.

why not pop along to your local Sony Centre, try & see them both in action. Check out the Sony website for facts & figures.

Looking straight on at the 40" 703 model I thought the picture was excellent with HD material. I never looked at the picture from the sides as I always watch my tv sitting directly in front of it. It`s a fantastic looking set.

Only got to see a 32" 503.

As yet there have been no reviews of the 703 - if I had the room for a 40", the 703 would definitely be on my shortlist.

ex503, ex703 and hx700

the hx700 is the one with "no frame", lcd no led.but 200 hz pic.great also.

The lcds have the advantage on image here,for sure.

For me the star sets in the range are:

EX503 and HX703.

The EX703 is excellent but the conventional CCFL backlighting of the EX503 gives a superior picture.

If you can stretch to the 200Hz HX703 it is a fabulous television.
