sony dav 550 new sub woofer ?

sub woofer on my old but still ok sony dav 550 is no longer working,any sugestions on a replacement.or should i replace the whole system.im running a ps3 through it with optical cable ,and using the ps3 as blu ray/dvd player , cheers for any help

ive just found in my local free mag a sony davs s880 sub mint condition 40 quid,will this be better than my old one.

As far as I can recall, both the DAV-S550 and the DAV-S880 used a passive subwoofer - ie driven from amplification inside the main unit. So yes, the one in the paper will be absolutely fine - in fact the DAV-S550 sub and the DAV-S880 sub are virtually the same unit, except the 880 one is a little larger and uses a 20cm driver in place of the 550 sub's 16cm unit.
