Yes, but that's US availability and pricing. However, we may get a better idea of the when and how much for the UK during tonight's live forum session with Sony Technical Marketing Manager Eric Kingdon.

JohnDuncan:Don't suppose they brought back multichannel analogue outs did they...?

Even if they did for the US model it wouldn't imply they would for the Euro model, the Pioneer 320 had multi-channel outs in the US (as did every model above it) but none of them did in Europe, until you got up to the LX-91 I think, it was the only reason I didn't buy a Pioneer player after I got my Kuro. Naturally the US models were also cheaper (I'm betting the 780 won't be £175 when it's released over here...).

How was your evening ?

Look forward to seeing the new sony when it's released.

d4v3pum4:Wow, did they actualy sell any 770's?

Yeah I got one and I'll be pretty gutted if they replace it in April seen as though the 770 was only released in September

Why? Your 770 will still be just as good.

Hi v1c. A few technical issues, not player related however. Will report by mid next week when more testing completed, watch out for post!

So it's 3D, 3D, 3D and more low quality web content. Can't we just have a BD player that plays discs well and loads them in less than a month? Pretty soon, playing discs will be an after thought. Why don't they just bring out a streaming device and be done with it? Looks like a BD player with built-in HCPC. Nothing new to be honest, just more features crammed into one box. Downloadable music - err, Last FM, Spotify anyone?

They got my money because of the web content. (BBC iPlayer specifically).

iPlayer is pretty good quality via the Sony and it means I don't have to tie up a computer to watch it.

d4v3pum4:Why don't they just bring out a streaming device and be done with it?

They do.

But there was no point in paying that much when I could get an S370 for £99 that has an excellent BluRay player built in as well

The S373 loads discs quicker than my old DVD player.

See Chebby above

Yes, but on your telly? I'm quite...curious about that but haven't tried it yet.

Are there any updates on the BDP-S780 please?

It appears that SBM is back on the new model, which should make a worthwhile difference over the 580, unlike the 570 vs 770.
