sony bdp s370 0r pioneer vsx520 for audio decoding

is it better to let the amp or the blu ray do the work when decoding sound, just when i let the amp do the work it doesnt display the dts hd or ddhd logo so am i actually getting hd audio, it displays pcm when i press direct audio, could somebody please enlighten me if possible

Sounds like the player is already doing the work. To feed a raw signal to the amp's onboard processing, you need to ensure the player's Audio (HDMI) setting is Auto, and the BD Audio Mix is set to 'off'.
