I am unable to test SONY DA5400-ES amp, SONY BDP-S5000ES Blue Ray with KEF KHT3005SE speakers. The SONY dealers (Johannesburg) don't stock KEF and vice versa. Please advise if the combination will yield excellent results, or whether I should rather consider the B&W MT-25's.

Of the two I would opt for the KEFs. The Sony is not bright but with the B&Ws it may be harsh at high volumes. The Sony can run speakers way in excess of the 3005's though, had you considered the 6000's. I take it you can not run floor standing speakers.

Thanks for your response Nick. You are correct. I am limited for various reasons to satellites. Are the 6000's KEF speakers and are they satellites? By the way, on the basis that I am limited to KEF or other satellites, do you think that the amp is underutilized? I could go, for example, for the much cheaper STDA-2400ES. Kind regards Brandon.

The 6000s are sats and perform to a much higher degree. I would opt for the 54 over the 24 for the 3005's as they do perform well with a quality amp. If you can stretch to the 6000's you will have an excellent system.

Actaully not so long ago i was also asking about the same thing in the forum , and infact it was also Nick who gave me the answer on that one , i have kef IQ serie and i wanted to upgrade my amp. to the Sony 5400ES ,but knowing that kef speakers they sound lively and open , i was afraid to end up with a bright sound but actaully Nick was right and the sony proved me wrong! those 2 togather they can sound very open and dynamic with an excelent attack! without being abvious. infact it even sweeten the top-end of my kef.
