i watch a lot of motorsport on a 4 year panasonic crt but due to room refurbishment i can get a new tv.the largest i can have is 32 inches as anything larger will look ridiculous.i have looked at the sony and the panasonic but am not that impressed, what else is available that will cope with fast moving objects?.i won't be having hd so it will be freeview only.i don't have blu ray or surround sound so i will have about £700 to £800 to spend.can anyone advise?

I'm also considering the 32W4000 and have the same concerns over it's handling of motion (I've not seen it in a store yet). If you do go for this TV you may be interested to know that Sony are running a free 3 year warranty deal until the 24th November:-

Amazon actually do the same set a bit cheaper with that deal but I don't have the link to hand.

thanks for that.i have been to a sony centre but all the salesman did was slag off every other make of tv and told me that for the distance i was viewing from either a 26 inch or 42 inch would be okay but a 32 too small, needless to say i came away a bit confused.been to empire direct today but was unable to view said tv's with my dvds

Have seen the 32w4000 on Sky HD loks awesome as well as with PS3. The only problem really is lack of 100Hz scanning. If you can wait till either more budget or till tv prices come down probably worth looking at w4500 from Sony which deatures 100Hz.

The W4500 is without a doubt the top LCD at the moment and if I had the space it wouldn't be cost stopping me buying it. This months Awards mag suggests that the lack of 100Hz on the 32W4000 shouldn't put anyone off buying it and that in some screens that feature can actually have a negative effect on picture quality. I'd still like to know what sort of feed they tested it with to get an idea of how it will cope with sport.

celsius - what is your viewing distance out of interest? 37" Panasonic TX-37LZD800 might also be worth a look if you want 100Hz (and I think Panny have it on the free 5 year warranty deal).

viewing distance about 6 to 8 footi looked at the panasonic 37px80 plasma but it looks huge,i used the sony bravia sheet to gauge how big it would be put it on the wall and it is too large for my living room.i don't have a ps3 or hd and the w4500 is not available in 32 inch both the panasonic lxd and lxd are 100 hz but my current crt has a better picture on sd than them.so it looks like i will be stuck with it for at least another few months

Might be worth finding your local Sony centre and asking to test the 32W4000 with a DVD - ideally of something you'd typically watch on TV.

i talked to my partner and she said if it makes me happy i can have a 37 inch tv as long as i pay for it and don't mention tv's ever again so i think a panasonic 37 px 80 is the one to go for with a five year warranty seen it online for about £620

Had a quick google and found RGB direct selling it for £560 and free 5 yr,s warranity, or £599 with wall bracket great deal other packages availble including stand or homecinema packages best deal iv'e found on this model.

that price at rgb doesn't include the 5yr warranty that is the online price, instore price includes the warranty. a lot of retailers are doing this
