Having just read and watched the review of Sonos play bar I am interested about the 5.1 option as I already have a pair of play 3's and the sub but how would it work with my panny BD player If the only connection is with an optical from the tv or the sonos network? Am I missing something?

You can take the optical from th TV but that probably won't carry the 5.1 signal, so you have to take it directly from the BD player (pan normally have both optical and coax connections)
the only issue is if you want sky in 5.1 and your BD, you would need an optical splitter. Also check how many of your discs are only DTS as the playbar currently doesn't support it. It's down to licencing but if they have enough of a demand it is something they will look at getting
